The interior of a caravan or motorhome should represent comfort, design and a certain level of luxury. These vehicles embody a mobile hotel room, a home away from home. At the same time, the demands placed on these recreational vehicles have continued to increase: winter camping, permanent camping, glamping. Outside temperatures range from minus 30 to plus 45 degrees, while inside people shower, cook and sleep, and stow everything from cars to motorcycles.
But no condensation should form inside, outside noise should not penetrate inside, and inside noise should not escape outside. When it’s cold, the interior should feel warm and cosy, and when it’s hot, it should feel cool and airy. We can’t perform miracles, but with our interior trim made of composite materials, we can meet many of these requirements: insulation, breathability, sound insulation, robustness, pleasant feel. And what’s important for manufacturers: we also offer customised solutions for small series!

Load capacity is a major selling point, especially for recreational vehicles. That is why interior panelling should be lightweight without compromising on robustness.
A key factor in the interiors of motorhomes and caravans is the prevention of condensation. Interior panelling must be breathable to prevent mould and rust from forming on the interior bodywork. We have many years of experience in the manufacture of permeable composite materials. It is also important not to ignore the other requirements for such a component, such as robustness.
In the relatively confined space of a caravan, there is a high risk of damaging trim parts. Even if they are not damaged, they are often exposed to rough handling. Our composite materials have to endure a lot, especially in loading areas: friction, impacts, dirt, scratches. The surface must not be sensitive. On the contrary, it should still look good even after a long period of time.
The appearance of a product’s surface determines its perceived value, solidity and taste in a matter of seconds. Immediately after its exterior appearance, the look of a vehicle’s interior determines whether the vehicle is appealing or not. This applies to caravans and motorhomes as well as cars. Here, it is the interplay of form and surface that determines the visual impression. If the interior trim and interior design, i.e. the furnishings and room layout, form a harmonious whole, we at 3D-Composite have played our part in making your vehicle appealing.
The second step after the visual impression. Due to the relatively small space in a recreational vehicle, contact with the interior trim of the vehicle is inevitable, even desirable! The interior trim should therefore be pleasant to the touch, easy to clean and yet soft and flexible to a certain extent. We use a wide variety of natural fibres for our composite materials, which make any desired haptic effect possible: hemp, sisal, wool, jute, kenaf or cotton – anything is possible, even if maximum sound insulation is also required.
The interior of caravans and motorhomes should be a protected space, a private space. Sound should not penetrate from the inside to the outside, or at least it should be significantly dampened. But outside noise should not spoil the holiday experience either. Our carrier materials are ideal for absorbing sound waves when combined with synthetic resins in the production process. This is why our composite components are also suitable for the interior design of sound-reflecting interiors by attaching special profiles to ceilings, walls and room dividers. Reducing noise pollution significantly improves the quality of life, both in stationary and mobile homes.
Let us work together to find the right solution for your vehicle – customised, durable and well thought-out down to the last detail.
